Until We Meet Again

It’s hard to lose someone you love.  I lost my mom a few years ago, and it was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to deal with. I always questioned why someone so kind, so full of life and so young, was taken away so suddenly. I haven’t gotten the answer to my questions so far, and I’ve accepted the fact that I probably never will. But, rather than focus on why my mom was taken, I decided to refocus on the beautiful memories of her and the times we shared together.

One of my favorite memories is taking her to Disneyland for the first time. My youngest daughter had a dance competition, and we made a family trip of it. My mom had never been on a roller coaster before, and she was so excited, she decided to ride on the first one we came across. Well, the first ride we came across was one of the biggest and fastest roller coasters in the entire park. My mom screamed from the time the ride started until she took her seat belt off. Afterward, she laughed herself to tears and got on just about every ride in the park. I have to say, that was the most fun I’ve ever had at Disneyland!

I have many loving and fond memories of my mother. Like her love for music, watching her dance and her many, many hairstyles. My mom was easy going and fun-loving.  She never held a grudge, never looked back and always put other people’s needs before hers. That’s quite a legacy to leave behind.

My mom is no longer here with me physically, but I feel her presence each day, and each day, each day I try a little bit harder to carry her legacy forward.  I love you, mom.
