We Will Get Through This
Hey, fam! If you are reading this you are probably on lockdown. I hope that you are well, being productive, and taking care of your mental health.
Social distancing is mandatory, and seeing empty restaurants—and some of my favorite stores closed has become an unfortunate new norm. In the past few weeks, our lives have been swamped with COVID-19 news, and every day people are becoming infected.
What’s a cautious, God-fearing woman to do?
I recognize that there’s a fine line between being compliant with current governing standards, and staying grounded in faith. Honestly, I find myself torn between the two.
As a learned woman (relatively) versed in healthcare, I’m concerned. Concerned enough to stay inside, re-wipe the doorknobs and fixtures when a family member enters the house, and enough to sniff boiling eucalyptus water at night. (I know, I know.)
But, I can’t abandon my faith. My faith assures me that this situation is out of my control and that everything will be alright in time. And while I try to maintain a healthy balance of emotions, I’m still torn.
It will be a while before we have all the answers we are looking for (if ever), and we are living in unprecedented times, but let’s make the most out of our most valuable asset: our time. Let’s lean on one another, pick up the phone and call the ones we love, and take time out for self-care.
Write on,
Tamika
