The Pearson's Are Not Okay, And That's Okay

Fam, guess what? This Is Us” is coming back to prime time and I can’t wait. I love to write about complicated family dynamics, and nothing—in my opinion—is more complicated than the Pearsons. I love watching family dramas, and this show gives me life! They drip all the excitement, laughter, love, and complexities that I have come to appreciate in my stories and real life.

There are no perfect families, but family is what makes us unique individuals and keep us honest. That’s the beauty of family. No matter what happens, you have a group of people who have your back, even when they don’t want to.

Whether its addiction, a failed relationship, unemployment, it doesn’t matter. Family will always be there.

One of my favorite storylines is Randall and Beth. Their marriage is so relatable. It’s a perfect mixture of love, support, and fun; with some salacious issues from the past. I am always rooting for them, though I know Beth will be okay—she can hold her own. I hope Randall will open his eyes to see his selfishness before it’s too late.

I’m also rooting for Kevin. Poor, lost Kevin. I’ve seen this scenario several times in my life. On the outside, it looks as if he has everything-handsome Hollywood actor, eligible bachelor, with a supportive extended family, but deep down he’s struggling. I don’t know how it will turn out, but in this family of resilience and support, I think Kevin will be overcome his struggles.

I’m anxiously waiting for the return of the Pearsons!
