It’s been a long time, but I’m back!

Hey Fam,

It’s been a long time, but I’m back!

I experienced a tragic loss this past year and am slowly making my way back into life. Life will look a lot different, but I’m taking things one day at a time. I’m grateful for family and friends who have been supportive. I am often reminded that people are still kind, and tomorrow isn’t promised. So, hug, love, forgive, write that book, start that project. Whatever has been on your heart to do, do it.

I also have to give a huge shout-out to my social media strategist, who kept my content, email, and newsletter going while I took time for myself for the past few months.

Thank you, Vanessa! You rock.

While in emotional recovery, I didn’t write. I couldn’t. I thought about writing, but writer’s block was at its pinnacle. Some days I couldn’t write my name, let alone contribute to any form of creative writing.

But guess what? Eventually, the words started to come.

Every day is another chance to start over, fam.

Once I was in a mental space to write again, I had to find a plan to get back into my groove. I decided to follow my own advice. I’m always writing about writing habits, how to start your novel and how to get over writer’s block. It’s time to practice what I preach. Starting today, I will create a daily writing routine to get myself in the writing groove. You know I’m always down for a good challenge. So, if you too are in writing recovery let’s get this writing thing going again.

How will we do it?

I’m glad you asked.

Over the next seven days, write for fifteen minutes. It doesn’t have to be profound or mind-blowing; just get your words down. It can be an idea for a story or character names or recitation of an event that happened to you.

And we’ll go from there.

Let me know how it goes.

Write on,

Tamika
