Write Your Novel
It's Time to Write that Book
If you follow this blog, you are interested in reading, writing or you simply love and support me (I love you too). If you follow this blog, you also know I'm all about story-telling and manifesting your dreams.
Let's say it together, man—i—fest. Yep, manifest that writing dream and make it happen.
I can't tell you the number of texts, emails, and DM's I receive from people who want to write a book but don't for one reason or another. They have a story inside but don't have time, an audience, or know where to start.
Well, look no further. I'm here to help.
If your story is burning inside you like summer in Atlanta, then write it. If you endured an experience and learned from it, write it. If you accomplished something and want to show others how to achieve it too, write it. Do you get the theme here? Yes, tell your story.
As for time, you will have to give up something to make time for writing. That’s the hardest part. Sometimes I have to choose between gym time and writing or being social and writing. Being the creative introvert I am, I don't mind writing in-lieu of social events, but we aren't all the same. The moral of this paragraph is that you will need to make time to write, which means something has to give.
You'll have to figure out what that is.
Okay, here's the technical part:
The first thing you need to do to establish yourself as a writer and start your book is write.
Yes, it's that simple. We can discuss outlining, plot, character arcs, and all that technical stuff later. But for now, you should get your ideas down, get accustomed to writing regularly.
I already know what you are thinking, "there are so many other writers out there that write the same thing."
Not possible. No matter how many writers there are and how many books they write—no one can write like you. No one can tell your story like you. In other words, there is no competition.
We all have a story to tell, and writing is cathartic so just do it.
We can discuss publishing later. For now, my friends, start writing.
Write on,
Tamika
